IRC – Market Study of Non Food Items (NFI) in Lake Chad Province

IRC - Market Study of Non Food Items (NFI) in Lake Chad Province

The degradation of the security situation in Lake Chad since 2014 resulted in the displacement of populations across the country and the outbreak of a humanitarian crisis. In such context, humanitarian actors operating in the region identified cash and voucher assistance as a relevant modality to intervene in the region. Nonetheless, as most of CVA in the region focused mainly on food assistance, IRC commissioned a study with a focus on Non Food Items to better understand (1) how NFI market systems function in the region and (2) provide IRC with recommendations regarding the modality to use int he region to provide affected populations with access to NFI. The reports findings and recommendations will be widely share among Chad’s Cash Working Group, with the ultimate aim to provide them with necessary information to orient their programming.
