DRC – Design and delivery of tailored Cash and Voucher Assistance Training in Nigeria

DRC has been using Cash and Voucher Assistance in North Eastern Nigeria since 2017 to respond to Boko Aram crisis, targeting more than 7,000 households. DRC wanted to deepened its livelihood and food security team command of cash and market based programming.
Key Aid Consulting first assessed DRC learning needs and level of cash institutionalization as well as deployed an online survey to assess the pre-existing knowledge and skills of staff in country.

Using the existing organisational tools and processes and relying on adult learning principles, we developed a four-day cash and market training. The overall objective of the training was to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure appropriate risks assessment and mitigation when CVA is used. The training was delivered by our team using a mix of lectures, participatory group work and plenary discussions to encourage horizontal learning as well as direct applicability of the training content.

This training contributed to better risk assessment and mitigation as well as improved adaptive management.
