Evaluation of WFP’s emergency response to the prolonged crisis in the Sahel and other countries of Central Africa (2018–2023)

Key Aid Consulting in partnership with IRAM conducted the corporate emergency evaluation of WFP response in eight Sahelian and West African countries (Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria) for the period 2018-2022. The evaluation draws from an extensive review of literature and evaluative evidence as well as primary data collected via online surveys, more than 600 semi structured key informant interviews and 70 focus group discussion with crisis affected households and WFP partners. Preliminary findings were reviewed and analysed during 16 in country workshops and two virtual round tables. Findiongs are articulated around 12 different themes including localisation, humanitarian principles, shock responsive social protection and knowledge creation.
