BRC – Final Evaluation of the Earthquake Recovery Programme in Nepal

Key Aid Consulting researched the effectiveness and impact of the livelihoods component of the British Red Cross/Nepal Red Cross Society’s Recovery Programme in the Kathmandu Valley. A central element of this livelihoods support were conditional cash grants provided to 13,300 vulnerable households to restart agriculture, livestock and small business activities. This research contributed to increasing cash acceptance in Nepal, as this project represented one of the first instance that NRCS used CTP at scale in a recovery programme. The mixed-methods approach included a desk review (of both qualitative and quantitative data), key informant interviews and focus group discussions.
