Impact evaluation of Save the Children’s Education Safe From Disasters programme in the Philippines
Evaluation
The “Education Safe from Disasters” project, conducted in partnership with the Department of Education and Prudence over three years, aimed to enhance disaster preparedness in schools and integrate safety measures into construction. It followed a global strategy by Save the Children to protect children’s education during disasters. Outcome 3 of the project encompassed four research outputs, including an independent impact evaluation commissioned by Save the Children. The evaluation’s purpose was to assess the project’s success and provide evaluative guidance and recommendations. The evaluation successfully achieved its objectives through a participatory approach, incorporating inputs from relevant stakeholders through qualitative data collection and workshops. This approach helped secure buy-in for the evaluation findings among key program stakeholders, contributing to the overall success of the “Education Safe from Disasters” project.
