Key Aid Consulting conducted a multi-sector needs assessment in Niger to investigate the needs and gaps across four core competency areas (shelter, education, livelihoods and food security, and information, counselling and legal assistance) to inform NRC’s decision of where to establish humanitarian programs. The assessment used a desk review, key informant interview and analysis of secondary quantitative data. The consultants looked at the overall needs of IDPs, host communities and refugees, cross-referencing needs with existing humanitarian coverage, to analyse where there were remaining gaps. The recommendations provided analysis into where NRC would have the greatest added value and where their expertise would best strengthen humanitarian programming.
