Support for the development of the toolkit for data analysis in contexts of reduced access
Cash & Market
In response to significant access constraints affecting humanitarian operations across its operational areas, Mercy Corps has increasingly adopted remote operations to sustain essential services while mitigating risks to its personnel. However, remote management poses challenges, especially in monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) within areas with restricted access. The Reduced Access Analysis Methods (RAAM) project, led by Mercy Corps, aims to tackle these challenges by enhancing strategies for data collection and information generation in such environments. Key Aid Consulting (KAC) collaborated with Mercy Corps to develop a guidance on data triangulation and a toolkit for implementing transaction analysis. The latter involves monitoring and analyzing digital transaction data to assess trends in prices, volumes, sellers, and other outcomes. These tools were subsequently integrated into the RAAM toolkit and piloted across four countries to assess their relevance and consistency before being scaledup globally.
